How did I become a ‘couponer’? It started when I was in college…I was in the cafeteria and noticed that they carried my local newspaper (I went to school out of state), so I picked up a copy one Sunday morning and was browsing the paper and noticed the sale ads/coupons. I’ve always been a ‘smart shopper’, checking for sales/clearance deals, but what caught my eye was $1 Colgate toothpaste at CVS after ECB and ‘Manufacturer Coupon in Most Sunday Papers’ (I wouldn’t be caught dead actually paying for toothpaste today, but that’s a different story). Now at first, this seemed like a foreign language…”What the heck is an ECB”? is what I thought, (it has now become part of my everyday vocabulary), but I figured it was worth checking into. So, I looked through the coupons, and found the one that matched the sale at CVS…and a ‘couponer’ was born.
